I've called Austin home for more than a decade and during that time I have come to love this quirky little city (though little is getting to be less of a descriptor as it seems to grow exponentially on a daily basis...) During that time, the restaurant scene in Austin has gotten increasingly sophisticated. While you can still get some of the best breakfast tacos, Tex-Mex, and BBQ in TX, you can also get amazing sushi (seriously), French inspired haute cuisine, and global cuisines such as Ethiopian and Argentinean. It's a great place to get a meal!
The below-listed restaurants are by no means an exhaustive inventory of the Austin dining scene; they’re what I’ve gotten to thus far. I’ve ranked them from 1 to 5 stars; 1 being unfortunate, 5 revelatory. There is an unstarred category. Those are restaurants I’ve been to once (or maybe even twice). My firm rule is that I can’t issue a starred review until I’ve dined at the establishment a minimum of three times...
